Committee on Environment is one of the welfare Committees constituted by Kerala Legislature in 1992. The objective of the Committee is to study and examine the environmental issues being faced by the entire State.It is one of the last resort of the common people of the state for solving problems related to environment. Committee has the right to visit spots having environmental issues and take evidence. Committee shall have the power to conduct suo-moto examination of any issues which comes to their notice either through media reports or from other sources. Committee have the privilege to conduct on the spot study examination of every firms/industry/institutions which make environmental pollution. Duration of the committee is 30 months.
